Anyone out there with expertise in the subject of “the Berkshires?” How about “Berkshire county?” Wikipedia has a page for each, which makes sense, I guess, because one refers to an undefined area and the other refers to an area defined in strict cartographic terms.
There is a call for an expert to give attention to the Berkshires page, which presents an accurate summary of the region, but which cites no sources.
The Berkshire county page includes a map and links to all the adjacent counties, plus links to Wikipedia pages for all the towns and cities of Berkshire county.

Pittsfield, MA is the locale of these venues and attractions: Arrowhead – Herman Melville’s Home, Barrington Stage Company, Berkshire Athenaeum, Berkshire Community College, Berkshire Museum, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary, Colonial Theatre, Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield State Forest.
