On July 31, he leads the BSO in two French masterpieces, <strong>Debussy\u2019s<\/strong> <em>La Mer<\/em> and <strong>Ravel\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Daphnis et Chlo\u00e9, Suite No. 2<\/em>, on a program with the <strong>Beethoven<\/strong> <em>Violin Concerto<\/em> that will be performed by <strong>Vadim Repin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then on August 3, <strong>Maestro de Burgos<\/strong> conducts the the <strong>Tanglewood Music Center Vocal and Conducting Fellows and Orchestra<\/strong> in a program of <strong>Stravinsky\u2019s<\/strong> complete <em>Pulcinella<\/em>, and the suite from the 1919 version of <em>The Firebird<\/em>. The program will also feature <strong>Peter Serkin<\/strong> performing <strong>Stravinsky\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Concerto for Piano and Winds<\/em>, under the direction of a Tanglewood Music Center Conducting Fellow.<\/p>\n<p>On August 1, <strong>Sir James Galway<\/strong> celebrates his 70th birthday with a musical party under the direction of <strong>Leonard Slatkin<\/strong>. It will feature the BSO and special surprise guests with a repertoire that includes <strong>Debussy\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun<\/em>, <strong>Copland\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Appalachian Spring<\/em>, the overture to <strong>Mozart\u2019s<\/strong> <em>The Magic Flute<\/em>, and the <em>Flute Concerto No. 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Former BSO assistant conductor <strong>Thomas Dausgaard<\/strong> returns August 2, for the first time since 1995, to conduct <strong>The Serge and Olga Koussevitsky Memorial Concert<\/strong>, featuring <strong>Rachmaninoff\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Symphony No. 2<\/em> and <strong>Beethoven\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Piano Concerto No. 3<\/em>, with pianist <strong>Leif Ove Andsnes<\/strong>, of Norway.<\/p>\n<p>On August 5 and 6, the <strong>Mark Morris Dance Group<\/strong> will present two world premieres at Tanglewood, featuring performances by cellist <strong>Yo-Yo Ma<\/strong>, pianist <strong>Emanuel Ax<\/strong>, and violinist <strong>Colin Jacobsen<\/strong>. One dance is set to <strong>Charles Ives\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Trio for piano, violin and cello<\/em>, while the other is set to <strong>Beethoven\u2019s<\/strong> late <em>Sonata No. 4 for cello and piano, Op. 104<\/em>.
