Fall Vespers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because summertime leaves
\nus limp with languor, trees
\nwho cast only shadows
\nheretofore,
\nnow also cast doubt. <\/p>\n

They loosen the noose
\nof certitude –<\/p>\n

their showy displays
\npresent a deciduous
\nanalogue to television,
\ntablets and smart things –<\/p>\n

perhaps even lead some
\nto ogle the colorful leaves.<\/p>\n

Winter Reverie<\/strong><\/p>\n

Weeks of cold days under granite skies
\nTrudging streets flanked by walls
\nOf drab snow, shaped by glacial snow plows,<\/p>\n

Lead to a magical moment when I
\nBecome John Muir, six thousand feet tall,
