My poem, Dozen Ways of Looking at Stuff,<\/em> has been selected for publication in the upcoming We Are Beat, National Beat Poetry Festival Anthology,<\/em> which I think is scheduled for publication in late August.<\/p>\n

Dozen Ways of Looking at Stuff<\/p>\n

v.1<\/p>\n

on the edge of nature
\nthe haughty docent
\nsaid to me<\/p>\n

here the pretty
\nflowers are and there
\nthe poetry<\/p>\n

v.erotic<\/p>\n

on the edge of nature
\nthe naughty docent
\nbeckoned me<\/p>\n

there the pretty
\nflowers are and here
\nthe poetry<\/p>\n

occidental version<\/p>\n

the poet who dissembles
\nall day long to earn his pay
\nwill have his say
\nif he assembles
\nhonest verse along the way<\/p>\n

\nto limn what it has amused
\nthe gods to encrypt<\/p>\n

Some poems reflect everybody
\nseen in the Metro by Ezra Pound,
\nwhile others recall faces I know
\nwhose voices make a beautiful sound.<\/p>\n

\nyou can conceal <\/p>\n

the clue to your notion of hiding
\nan antonym to the rhyme
\nyou mean to reveal.<\/p>\n

Turned inward like a bad toenail is the mind’s eyeball,
\nan unblinking cyclops ready to light me up
\nlike a bored cop at the intersection of reflect and write.<\/p>\n
