The Boston Symphony’s July 2019 schedule<\/strong> includes the July 20 world premier of The Brightness of Light,<\/em> a BSO co-commission composed by Kevin Puts<\/strong>, based on the letters of Georgia O\u2019Keeffe<\/strong> and Alfred Stieglitz<\/strong>. Written especially for Ren\u00e9e Fleming and Rod Gilfry<\/strong>, and accompanied by projections by Wendall Harrington<\/strong>, The Brightness of Light<\/em> is the story of a great artist who ultimately turns from a painful marriage to embrace her work and the desert landscape she loves. <\/p>\n

The July 7 program, Across the Stars: Music of John Williams<\/em>, with violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter<\/strong> is the first of three this season celebrating the art of John Williams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Beatles fans<\/strong>, especially, will delight in the Tuesday, July 16, 8 p.m. Ozawa Hall program because it includes Blackbird, Yesterday, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps<\/em>, along with works by J. S. Bach, Villa-Lobos<\/strong> and others played on classical guitar.<\/p>\n

Tanglewood on Parade<\/strong> has been moved from its usual first Tuesday in August slot to Tuesday, July 23 when Tanglewood Festival Chorus<\/strong> director James Burton’s<\/strong> The Lost Words<\/em> will be premiered.<\/p>\n

On Jukly 27 &28, Maestro Nelsons wraps up a full month at Tanglewood by leading the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra<\/strong> in WAGNER<\/strong> Die Walk\u00fcre<\/em>, Acts I, II and III – concert performances sung in German with English supertitles.<\/p>\n
