Maestro Andris Nelsons<\/strong> opens the Boston Symphony Orchestra\u2019s<\/strong> Tanglewood schedule on July 6, with soloist Lang Lang<\/strong> in a program of Mozart and Tchaikovsky<\/strong>. Besides his participation in The Bernstein Centennial Celebration at Tanglewood<\/em> on Aug. 25, and performances with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra<\/strong> (TMCO), Nelsons leads programs with pianists Rudolf Buchbinder<\/strong> for Brahms\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 1 (7\/8), Yuja Wang<\/strong> for Beethoven\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 1 (7\/15), and Yefim Bronfman<\/strong> for Beethoven\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 4 (8\/17), and also conducts a complete, semi-staged performance of Puccini\u2019s La boh\u00e8me<\/em> with soprano Kristine Opolais<\/strong> and tenor Piotr Beczala<\/strong> in the lead roles (7\/14).<\/p>\n

He also conducts a special Young People\u2019s Concert<\/em> evoking those led by Bernstein himself, with Bernstein\u2019s daughter Jamie Bernstein<\/strong> as host (8\/10); an all-Bernstein program featuring violinist Baiba Skride<\/strong> in the Serenade (after Plato\u2019s \u201cSymposium\u201d) (8\/18), and Mahler\u2019s Third Symphony<\/em> with soloist Susan Graham<\/strong> (8\/24). <\/p>\n

In addition, Maestro Nelsons leads the TMCO\u2019s annual Leonard Bernstein Memorial Concert<\/strong>, this year with Yo-Yo Ma<\/strong> as soloist in Bernstein\u2019s Three Meditations from Mass<\/em> and the world premiere of a new work by John Williams<\/strong> written especially for the occasion (8\/19), and joins John Williams on the podium for John Williams\u2019 Film Night<\/em> (8\/11)<\/p>\n

Getting around the Tanglewood campus<\/h2>\n
