Mr. Hadelich, whose recovery in his mid-teens from severe burns is as heroic as his subsequent musical accomplishments are impressive, was afforded the rare honor of an encore following his thrilling performance of the <strong>Sibelius<\/strong> <em>Violin concerto<\/em>. <\/p>\n<h2>BSO program of Corigliano, Sibelius, and Beethoven<\/h2>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_21162\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21162\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/idealpoetry.com\/rwc\/berkshires-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/corigliano-bows.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/idealpoetry.com\/rwc\/berkshires-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/corigliano-bows-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Composer John Corigilano bows after BSO performance of his Fantasia on an Ostinato at Tanglewood, July 30, 2016; Hilary Scott photo.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21162\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21162\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Composer John Corigilano bows after BSO performance of his Fantasia on an Ostinato at Tanglewood, July 30, 2016; Hilary Scott photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>Another rarity tonight was the appearance of <strong>John Corigliano<\/strong>, called to the podium after the opening performance of his composition, <em>Fantasia on an Ostinato<\/em>, which is based on the famous repetitive passage from the second movement of <strong>Beethoven\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Symphony No. 7<\/em>, which concluded the performance and spread happiness throughout the departing audience.<\/p>\n<p>Since the rudiments of musicianship are beyond my ken, attending a symphonic concert often means concentrating on the conductor, while the music washes over me. Tonight, <strong>Maestro Nelsons<\/strong> was as entertaining to me as he must\u2019ve been elucidating to the orchestra, they played so beautifully. It is the location of the <strong>Koussevitsky Music Shed<\/strong> and <strong>Ozawa Hall<\/strong>, where hundreds of thousands attend concerts and a variety of events, including picnics.
