Entitled <em>Dove\/O&#8217;Keefe; Circles of Influence<\/em>, the exhibition did feature 60 major oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and pastels spanning 1910 to the early 1940s. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/affiliates.art.com\/get.art?T=15063498&#038;A=264686&#038;L=13&#038;P=1&#038;S=5&#038;Y=37875\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" height=\"190\" width=\"533\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Dove inspired O&#8217;Keefe from the start<\/h2>\n<p>From the start of her career, O&#8217;Keeffe credited a reproduction of a Dove pastel as her introduction to modernism. Dove&#8217;s use of sensual, abstract forms to evoke the flowing rhythms and patterns of nature had already put him at the forefront of the American modernist movement by the time O&#8217;Keeffe entered the scene around 1916. <\/p>\n<p>Among the seminal works on view were O&#8217;Keeffe&#8217;s <em>Dark Abstraction<\/em> (1924) and <em>Jack-in-The Pulpit No. VI<\/em> (1930), and Dove&#8217;s <em>Moon<\/em> (1935) and <em>Fog Horns<\/em> (1929).  <strong>Georgia O\u2019Keeffe<\/strong>, <em>Jack-in-Pulpit &#8211; No. 2<\/em> 1930. The Clark published an exhibition catalogue authored by Balken and distributed by Yale University Press.
