This year&#8217;s lineup includes many noteworthy shows. Brian Wilson, co-founder and genius composer of the <strong>Beach Boys<\/strong>, among the first rock bands to play Tanglewood, returns for a perofrmance of <em>Pet Sounds<\/em> June 19. A day earlier, <strong>Earth, Wind &amp; Fire<\/strong> make their 2nd appearance; jazz great <strong>Chichk Corea<\/strong> returns for a Juky 31 concert in <strong>Ozawa Hall<\/strong> along with <strong>Christian McBride and Brian Blade<\/strong>; the earnest troubadour <strong>Jackson Browne<\/strong>, who set an attendance record here in the early 70s rturns June 21. Local favorite and current attendance record-setter <strong>James Taylo<\/strong>r plays shows July 3 &amp; 4, and, for the 17th year in a row, <strong>Garrison Keillor<\/strong> will return to host a live broadcast of <em>A Prairie Home Companion<\/em> on June 25. It is the location of the <strong>Koussevitsky Music Shed<\/strong> and <strong>Ozawa Hall<\/strong>, where hundreds of thousands attend concerts and a variety of events, including picnics. Established during <strong>Erich Leinsdorf&#8217;s<\/strong> tenure as a way of broadening the Tanglewood audience, the initial performers &#8211; <strong>Judy Collins, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Ravi Shanka, and The Association<\/strong> were followed the next year by <strong>Janis Joplin, Iron Butterfly<\/strong> and the start of two years of productions by legendary promoter <strong>Bill Graham<\/strong>, dubbed <em>The Fillmore at Tanglewood<\/em>. Triple bills such as <strong>The Who, Jefferson Airplane and B.B. King<\/strong> gave Tanglewood status beyond the blue-stockin longhair set, but so aroused the neighbors that something had to be done.<\/p>\n<p>And so no shows were held in 1972 and from 1973 on, bookings were limited to acts and artists that unlikely to attract a rowdy crowd. Among the effects of several lawsuits were in-concert decibel monitoring.
