The Pillow has begun a Student Rush Program, with $20 tickets for college students when available.  (Students can email info@jacobspillow.org for details.) Feiffer&#8217;s solo dancer in a black leotard was a regular fixture in <em>The Village Voice<\/em> for decades, and the first 10 years of strips have now been collected in a new volume entitled <strong>Explainers<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<iframe class=\"floatright\" src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=newberkshirecom&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=1416991476&#038;md=10FE9736YVPPT7A0FBG2&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Feiffer will also take part in a PillowTalk on August 5 and a special reading of <em>Which Puppy?<\/em>, at the <strong>Pillow\u2019s Community Day on July 26<\/strong>. <em>Which Puppy?<\/em>, a new children\u2019s book about the <strong>Obama<\/strong> family\u2019s search for a pet, is illustrated by Feiffer and authored by his daughter <strong>Kate Feiffer<\/strong>, who will also participate in the reading on July 26.<\/p>\n<h3>Alvin Ailey: Anniversary Salute &#8211; Blake&#8217;s Barn<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Open Tues-Sun, noon through final curtain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In recognition of the 50th anniversary season of the <strong>Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,<\/strong> Jacob&#8217;s Pillow commemorates its seminal relationship with Ailey, which began in 1953.  This exhibit features photographs by <strong>John Lindquist<\/strong> and <strong>John Van Lund<\/strong> that have been rarely or never seen, including some of Ailey&#8217;s earliest works for the stage. <\/p>\n<h3>The Art of Merce Cunningham &#8211; Ted Shawn Theatre Lobby<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Open 30 minutes prior to performances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since <strong>Merce Cunningham<\/strong> first performed at Jacob&#8217;s Pillow in 1955, his works have been accompanied by the designs of <strong>Robert Rauschenberg<\/strong>, <strong>Jasper Johns<\/strong>, <strong>Andy Warhol<\/strong>, and other distinctive visual artists.  As a special tribute to Cunningham&#8217;s 90th birthday, these artistic collaborations are documented in costumes, sketches, posters, and other artifacts from the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation Archives. <\/p>\n<h3>Tap! &#8211; Doris Duke Studio Theatre Lobby<\/h3>\n<p>Open 30 minutes prior to performances<\/p>\n<p>This photography exhibit features many important artists that have tapped across the Pillow&#8217;s stages, including <strong>Jimmy Slyde, Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Dianne Walker<\/strong>, and a host of others. <\/p>\n<h3>Outsiders &#8211; Bakalar Studio<\/h3>\n<p>Open to the public whenever classes or rehearsals are not in session<\/p>\n<p>Photographers have been documenting dance at the Pillow since the organization\u2019s beginnings in the 1930s.  On display here are a few highlights of these open-air images, including classics by John Lindquist and John Van Lund alongside more recent photos by <strong>Christopher Duggan, Mike Van Sleen<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>\n<h3>Jacob&#8217;s Pillow Archives &#8211; Blake&#8217;s Barn<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Open Tues-Sun, noon through final curtain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This informal library and reading room allows impromptu visitors to view videos, browse through books, access the Pillow&#8217;s computer catalog, or peruse permanent collections of Pillow programs and photographs.
