{"id":13704,"date":"2014-07-09T07:59:57","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T12:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.berkshirelinks.com\/?p=13704"},"modified":"2014-07-09T07:59:57","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T12:59:57","slug":"james-taylor-tanglewood-july-4-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idealpoetry.com\/rwc\/james-taylor-tanglewood-july-4-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"James Taylor at Tanglewood July 4, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Article by <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/+DaveRead\/\" rel=\"author\">Dave Read<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As if the ghost of <strong>Paul Revere<\/strong> had gotten loose, with a mind to make mischief in the <strong>Berkshires<\/strong>, in the days and hours leading up to <strong>James Taylor&#8217;s 4th of July concert at Tanglewood<\/strong>, a quiet rumor rose to a dull roar that a British(er) were coming &#8211; to wit, <strong>Sir Paul McCartney<\/strong> would make a special guest appearance. <\/p>\n<p>That would be a reunion of the former <strong>Beatle<\/strong> and the first artist signed to the beatles&#8217; <strong>Apple record<\/strong>s. The anicipation built and built during the concert, as Taylor made 3 or 4 references to his lucky days in London, where he auditioned for McCartney and <strong>George Harrison<\/strong> while the Beatles were at work on the <em>White Album<\/em>. In fact, he began the show with the very audition song <em>Something in the Way She Moves<\/em>! But it never happened, and I don&#8217;t think anybody was disappointed. (McCartney did made an appearance, via video, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berkshirelinks.com\/review-of-james-taylor-and-his-band-of-legends-tanglewood-july-4-2008\/\">Taylor&#8217;s 60th birthday celebration<\/a> here six years ago.)<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TQbdCxBi_9M\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\nIt was another sold-out Tanglewood gig for Taylor, who appeared fit as a fiddle after taking last year off from touring to concentrate on the latter part of the singer-songwriter job description. He performed one new song tonight that&#8217;ll appear on an album eventually &#8211; <em>Today, Today, Today<\/em>. The balance of his typically generous setlist was familiar, including: <em>Handy Man, Fire and Rain, Up on the Roof, Sweet Baby James, You\u2019ve Got a Friend<\/em>, <strong>Buddy Holly\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Everyday.<\/em> Over the course of the nearly three hour show (including encores), everybody in the band and vocal quartet got the spotlight. <strong>Michael Landau, Luis Conte, Walt Fowler, Andrea Zonn, Kate Markowitz, Arnold McCuller, David Lasley, Larry Goldings, Steve Gadd, Lou Marini, Jimmy Johnson<\/strong>.
