Longtime BSO and Tanglewood guest Christoph von Dohnanyi<\/strong> returns to the podium for two more BSO performances Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26. The July 25 concert features English piano soloist Paul Lewis<\/strong> in Mozart\u2019s<\/strong> Piano Concerto No. 12 in A, K.414<\/em>, plus Beethoven\u2019s<\/strong> Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus<\/em> and Mendelssohn\u2019s<\/strong> Symphony No. 4, Italian<\/em>. On July 26, Maestro Dohnanyi leads the BSO, Tanglewood Festival Chorus<\/strong>, soprano Camilla Tilling<\/strong>, and mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly<\/strong> in Mahler\u2019s<\/strong> Symphony No. 2, Resurrection<\/em>. <\/p>\n

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is lead by conductor Rafael Fr\u00fchbeck de Burgos io the Shed on Sunday, July 27, for varied program of Rachmaninoff and Verdi<\/strong>. On the first half of the concert, Venezuelan-American pianist Gabriela Montero<\/strong> makes her BSO debut, performing Rachmaninoff\u2019s<\/strong> Piano Concerto No. 2<\/em>, while the second half of the program is devoted to the music of Verdi<\/strong>, including the Overture<\/em> and Va, pensiero<\/em> (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) from Nabucco and the Finale of Act II from Aida<\/em>. <\/p>\n

\"RafaelThere is more opera on Thursday, July 31, when the Chamber Ensemble from the Boston Lyric Opera Orchestra<\/strong> comes to Ozawa Hall for an evening of American opera. Led by conductor David Angus<\/strong> and featuring sopranos Chelsea Basler and Caroline Worra<\/strong>, mezzo-soprano Heather Johnson<\/strong>, tenor Omar Najmi<\/strong>, and baritones David McFerrin and Daniel Mobbs<\/strong>, the ensemble performs Jack Beeson\u2019s<\/strong> 1965 opera Lizzie Borden<\/strong> about the infamous 1892 Fall River, Massachusetts, double axe murder. The work will be performed without intermission and sung in English with supertitles in a new chamber version created for the Boston Lyric Opera.<\/p>\n
