{"id":10026,"date":"2012-07-02T16:38:52","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T21:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.berkshirelinks.com\/?p=10026"},"modified":"2012-07-02T16:38:52","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T21:38:52","slug":"june-30-2012-a-prairie-home-companion-at-tanglewood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idealpoetry.com\/rwc\/june-30-2012-a-prairie-home-companion-at-tanglewood\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 Review A Prairie Home Companion at Tanglewood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 13th live broadcast from Tanglewood of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/prairiehome.publicradio.org\/\">A Prairie Home Companion<\/a><\/em>, with <strong>Garrison Keillor<\/strong>, featured the familiar guests <strong>Arlo Guthrie<\/strong>, <strong>Heather Masse<\/strong>, and <strong>The DiGiallonardo Sisters<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>Guys All Star Shoe Band<\/strong> and the <em>Royal Academy of Radio Actors<\/em>, <strong>Tim Russell, Sue Scott<\/strong>, and <strong>Mr. Fred Newman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The show got off to a fast start with the DiGiallonardo Sisters harmonizing on a hilarious Berkshires version of <strong>George M. Cohan&#8217;s<\/strong> <em>Give My Regards to Broadway<\/em>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Give My Regards to Stockbridge, Remember me To Lenox and Lee;<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nOh how my heart is yearning, to see the Koussivitsky Shed;<br \/>\nGive my regards to Tanglewood, We&#8217;re gonna try to knock&#8217;em dead.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>By the time the live broadcast closed with <em>City of New Orleans<\/em>, Arlo Guthrie at the grand piano leading a vast chorus of singers, Mr. Keillor had once again delivered a thoroughly entertaining program, comprised of a perfect blend of heartfelt and hokey singing and humorous skits with pan-o-sonic effects. Then there&#8217;s the <em>News from Lake Woebegon<\/em>, which always has a poignancy because its denizens and their misadventures, for all their odd particularities, are pretty much like the people we know, some of whom we miss now. <\/p>\n<p>Sometimes at Tanglewood, the 2 hour radio program can feel like a pretty fancy warm up to the best event of the day &#8211; the on-stage after party concert and sing-along that today lasted well past 9PM.
